Aloo Chaat Recipe

Aloo chaat is one of the popular street food in various parts of India. This is a delicious, tangy spicy snack that’s full of flavors and texture. Aloo Chaat can be consumed as an appetizer or as a snack.


  • 4 potatoes (boiled or parboiled cut into cubes)
  • 4 tbsp oil (or butter or ghee)
  • 1 small sized onion (chopped)
  • ½ tbsp red chili powder
  • salt (to taste)
  • ½ tbsp cumin powder (roasted)
  • 1 tbsp chaat masala
  • 2 tbsp green chutney
  • 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • ¼ cup sev
  • 2 tbsp curd (or yogurt)
  • 2 tbsp cilantro leaves (chopped)
  • ¼ cup pomegranate seeds


  1. Firstly, boil the potatoes, peel the skin, and cut them into cubes.
  2. Heat oil or butter in a pan. Add potatoes and fry until golden brown. Do not overcook them as they will turn mushy. If you prefer to deep fry the potatoes then just parboil them for a while.
  3. Transfer to a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, chaat masala and toss well.
  4. Add green chutney, tamarind chutney and curd. Mix it.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a serving plate or bowl. Top it with sev, chopped cilantro leaves and pomegranate seeds.
  6. Serve immediately!
